Wenham Barber was the fifth child of at least eight known children of Robert Barber and his wife Rebecca Irons of Witcham, Cambridgeshire.
Wenham married Elizabeth Walker of Littleport and the couple had eight children.
Wenham pre-deceased Elizabeth by forty years and in 1851 she is noted as running a "Dame School" at Sandhill, Littleport.
