Obediah Cross was the sixth of the eleven known children of James Cross and Elizabeth Lee of Ely.
He married Susannah Cross (more than likely a cousin of some degree) and the couple had thirteen known children.
By the time of the 1881 Census, he is living with his family at Waterside in Ely. It is noted that he is a 'hackney carter', whilst his children are noted as including a baker, a dressmaker, a coal seller and scholars.
