Peter Cross was one of the children of Philip Cross and his first wife Sarah Freeman of Ely, Cambridgeshire.
He married Rachel Wisbey in 1854 and was noted at the as resident of West Fen Road in Ely, Cambridgeshire. The couple had six known children together. It appears that Rachel died during the childbirth (or shortly after) of their last daughter, Ellen Cross. Two days after the baptism of Ellen, Rachel was buried. Two days after that, Matilda Cross (Peter and Rachel's niece) was buried.
Peter went on to re-marry widow Ann Everett (née Newton) and together they had six more children.
