Hannah was the youngest of the seven known children of John Goltrip and his wife Elizabeth of Littleport, Cambridgeshire.
Hannah married William Barber and the couple had 4 known children - all sons.
On the 1861 census, Hannah's father, John, appears living with her and her family in Camel Road, Littleport, Cambridgeshire. Prior to this, her father and mother live with her and her own family during the 1841 Census at Black Lake Bridge in Littleport.
