Richard Gothard was the second
child of William Gothard and his wife Sarah Hawkins of Witcham,
Cambridgeshire.
He married Louisa Smith and the
couple had eight children. Sadly though, three of the children died within
their first years of life and this was followed by the death of their
mother, Louisa, in 1885. Six years later, Richard re-married to Mary
Norman, a spinster of Sutton, Cambridgeshire. It is so far unknown as to
whether Richard and Mary had children together.
