The Grey (occasionally spelt 'Gray') family have been traced back to the late eighteenth century in Ely with the baptism of my 5x Great Grandfather, William Gray in 1779, the son of William and Sarah Gray.
William Grey (junior) married Elizabeth Cawthorne, a spinster of Ely and they went on to have six children. The penultimate child, Mary Grey baptised in 1816 was my 4x Great Grandmother who went on to marry my 4x Great Grandfather, John Freeman of nearby Prickwillow.
