Elizabeth Howlett
1856-1916
Elizabeth was the only daughter of Thomas Howlett and his wife Caroline Clark of Mildenhall.
Elizabeth's father died aged 23 after a 9 month illness in 1858, leaving her young mother to look after her alone until she re-married to Robert Coe.
Elizabeth married James Gilbert - a farmer of Littleport in 1878 and by the time of the 1881 Census, they were living at the Gilbert farm at Burnt Chimney Drove, Littleport, farming 55 acres and employing one man and one boy.
James and Elizabeth had nine children although two of these did not survive into adulthood.
Elizabeth pre-deceased her husband by just under four months and her mother by about 11 months.
