The Irons family
The Irons family lived in Little Downham, Cambridgeshire during the 18th century. Their surname features in the parish registers with a few variations in spelling, including "Iron", "Ions", "Ion" and in one instance - "Ison".
My last Irons ancestor was Rebecca Irons, born in 1755. She married Robert Barber and together they had at least eight children.
Robert and Rebecca moved to Ely in the early 1800s.
Of Rebecca's siblings, only Johanah appears to have married - she married Thomas Gollington in June 1779 but she died less than 1 month later in July.
