James Levitt
(1758-1823)

James Levitt was the fourth of nine children, and the oldest son of James Levitt and his wife Frances Roote of Swaffham Bulbeck, Cambridgeshire, England.

James married Mary (her surname is not yet known) in the 1780s, but she is buried on 4th March at Swaffham Bulbeck church on the same day that the couple's child John is baptised. Perhaps she died during or as a result of childbirth? Sadly, their son John would only live about 6 weeks without his mother before dying in the May of that same year.

By August, James has re-married, this time to Elizabeth Fabb. The couple settled down to raise a family of three sons.
