Sarah Ann Martin
(1855-1864)

Sarah Ann Martin was the tenth of the twelve children of James Martin, and the third of the five children had with his second wife Mary Tingey of Little Downham, Cambridgeshire, England.

When Sarah was about 8 years old, her father, and then her older brother both died. The following year, her widowed mother re-married to James Wisbey, also of Little Downham.

Of her father's twelve children, only one survived into adulthood. Sarah was not one of these.

Sarah died in 1864 at the age of just 9 years, from a combination of kidney disease, and from the infectious disease named Scarlet Fever - something that infects by inhalation, resulting it in being a major killer until anti-biotics became available.
