The Family Tree

Edward Moden
1894

Edward Moden was the oldest son of the seven children of Edward and Mary Moden of Ely.

Edward was born prematurely, suffering from Atelectasis (an unexpanded/under-developed lung) and consequently died when just 4hrs old.

His existence seemed to remain unknown until 2004 when i happened to spot a burial entry for him in Ely Cemetery and noticing that his birth could have easily have fitted amongst the Moden siblings. Traditionally, the oldest son of the Moden families was named Edward but prior to finding him, what seemed like the only son was named George, a break from tradition. This added to my suspicion that Edward did belong to the family.

After purchasing the death certificate, i was able to confirm that Edward belongs in my family tree, 110years after his brief life in a world not prepared for premature babies.

As Edward's siblings seemingly knew nothing of his existance, it is possible that he may have never met them.
