John Pope
1880-1957
John Pope was one of the children of Richard Pope of Witchford.
He married young widow Louisa Hopkin (née Barber) who had been widowed in 1910 and left with five young children.
John is noted as a "smallholder" at the time of the baptism of the couple's second child, Audrey in 1920. Sadly the couple's first child, who had also been named Audrey, did not survive childbirth and was strangled by the umbilical cord during birth. Seventy-five years later - and as a result of this family tree research, Audrey (the younger) learnt of her older sister.
