Alfred Yarrow was born in 1916 to
Mrs. Laura Yarrow (nee Dewsbury) but he was not the son of her husband, who
was away fighting in the First World War. Alfred was brought up as Owen and Laura Yarrow's son. The identity of his father remains a mystery. He enlisted in the 5th Battalion of the Suffolk Regiment as Private 5835326 to fight in the Second World War. He died in captivity and was buried in Thailand.
