The Family Tree

James Yarrow
1786-1855

James Yarrow was the fourth of eight children of John Yarrow and his wife Mary (née Rayner) of Little Thetford, Cambridgeshire, England.

After marrying Phoebe Pope, the couple are known to have had just one child - a daughter named Harriet - but unfortunately she died when she was about two years old.

James and Phoebe stayed in Little Thetford, and by 1851, James is noted as a farmer with 133 acres, employing 5 men and 2 boys. Living with the couple were Henry Lister (their nephew), Sarah Lythel (house servant), and William Sadler (aptly working as a horsekeeper).
