Ann Bishop
1868-1931

Ann Bishop was the seventh of the 18 children of James Simpson Bishop and his wife Ann (née Bowers) of Wicken. Ann was born in neighbouring Forham, where a few of her siblings were also born.

Ann is noted as a 'Scholar' at the time of the 1881 census, but by the time of the 1891 census, she has given birth to a daughter outside of marriage whilst living in St Pancras, London. She is noted on the 1891 census as a General Servant Domestic and is living in the house of Albert Becker, a strawplait agent from Berlin, Germany. At the time of this census, her now 2 year old daughter was living with her grandparents as their own child back home in Wicken, Cambridgeshire.

By 1893 she had returned to Wicken where she married John Canham. The couple settled down, with Ann reunited with her daughter (whether her daughter ever knew her relationship to Ann, is not known) by 1901. The couple had six children, and they lived at High Fen, Wicken.

Ann was present at her father's death at High Fen in 1901. She died 30 years later.
