Rachel Dewsbury
(1843-1915)

Rachel Dewsbury (later Rachel Creek) was the third of the twelve children of agricultural labourer William Dewsbury and his wife Rebecca Lythell of Stretham, Cambridgeshire, England.

Rachel is noted on the census of 1861, as living with Charles Wright and his wife Sarah Ann, where she is working as a dairy maid at Red Hill Farm, Stretham.

By the time of the next census in 1871, Rachel has married William Creek of Barway, and they're living on Principal Road at nearby Little Thetford. William is noted as an 'Ag Lab with 2 acres of land'.

Rachel and William had two daughters, both of whom appear with them on the 1881 census, where they're noted as living at Half Acre Farm. Joining them, is Rachel's brother Nathan Dewsbury (as a 'farm servant'), their niece Elizabeth Dewsbury (as 'dairymaid'), and a servant named John Nunn.

This farm was where Rachel and Nathan's Great Great Grandfather John Dewsbury lived and died in 1769.

Their son William is born in 1884, and by 1901, Rachel has become a grandmother. It appears that he is an illegitimate son of her eldest daughter Elizabeth.
