William Dunham
(1766-1844)

William Dunham was the third of the four children of William Dunham and his first wife Jane Caldecote of Witchford, Cambridgeshire, England.

In November 1768, when William was about two years old, his youngest sibling Francis Dunham died, followed by his mother. Left with a young family of three children under the age of 7 years, his father swiftly re-married to widow Elizabeth Haylock, but by 1774, and like her predecessor, she died within weeks of her youngest child.

William went on to marry Alice Dunham of Witchford in 1789, and the couple soon became parents within a year.

Sadly though, luck was not on their side, and despite becoming parents five times, only one child is known to have survived beyond the age of 9 years.

Alice pre-deceased William in 1821, and he survived her by 23 years - dying in December 1844.
