William Moden was born in 1796 and was the son of Edward Moden and Margaret Nicholas of Coveney, Cambridgeshire.
He is known to only have had one sibling, a sister - Phoebe, and their father died when he was about 3yrs old and his mother went on to marry to William Biggs of Coveney.
William married Rebecca, from Ely and together they had at least seven children, possibly nine, in Coveney.
In 1841, the couple and their family appear on the census at Weyhead in Coveney and as they remained here until at least 1861. William is noted during this time as a farmer of 9 acres.
