Owen Yarrow was the oldest child of John Yarrow, a farmer of Little Thetford, and his first wife Ann Whiten.
When Owen was 13yrs old, his mother died and his father subsequently remarried.
Owen became the landlord of The Three Horseshoes pub (pictured) in Little Thetford, Cambridgeshire whilst his father's second wife, Elizabeth Jeffery, became the landlord of The Wheat Sheaf in the same village. It was at Owen's pub, that his oldest half-brother James Yarrow, was to meet his future wife, Mary Gothard who Owen employed as a general servant during the 1860's.
The pub has been converted into a large private house now with the village school still behind it.
