William Boulter
(1785-1849)

William Boulter (also known as William Bolter and William Butler) was the youngest of the five children of William Bolter and his wife Sarah of Wilburton in Cambridgeshire, England.

William married Ann Covell from the neighbouring village of Witchford in 1815, and together they settled in Wentworth to raise their family. They became parents to at least four children.

In 1841, Ann and William were living at Mount Pleasant in Wentworth with two of their sons - Thomas and Robert. However, by the time of the 1851 census, Ann has become a widow, and is noted as living in Grunty Fen Lane with her son Robert.

William pre-deceased Ann by 21 years, and whilst she was buried in Wilburton, William was buried as William Butler in Wentworth in 1849. Death indexes place his name as William Bolter, suggesting an error in the parish register or an error in the transcription.
