Elizabeth Ann Moden
(1865-1942)

Elizabeth Ann Moden was the fifth of the six children of Edward Moden and his wife Mary Ann Freeman of Coveney, Cambridgeshire, England.

When Elizabeth was no more than 2 years old, her father died, leaving her mother as a pregnant widow with a very young family. Unsurprisingly, her mother re-married a few years later to David Seymour of Green's Farm in Ely, prompting the family to re-locate to Ely.

By the time that Elizabeth was in her early 20s, she had moved to Kensington in London to take work as a domestic servant. Within a few years, she married brass worker William Major Boylett, with whom she lived.

The couple settled down to become parents 12 times, but sadly three of their children failed to survive infancy.

Elizabeth died close to the same time as her youngest son William, during the June quarter of 1942. Her widower followed her to the grave in 1944.
