The history of the Hale family of Bedfordshire

The Hale family lived in the small parish of Knotting, Bedfordshire, England from at least 1621.

The family appear to stay there for at least three generations before William Hale, a tailor, married Elizabeth Truelove of Leighton Buzzard, Bedfordshire, and then moved to Potton (also Bedfordshire) where they started their own family.

William's father, Thomas Hale, married Bathsheba Jennell of Knotting in 1686, but she was buried just 10 months later. Thomas re-married to Elizabeth, most probably the daughter of a Samuel Fairy, who was born in 1656 in Dean, Bedfordshire - but this currently remains unconfirmed.
