James Tingey
(1825-1903)

James Tingey was the third of the twelve children of Robert Tingey and his wife Fanny Harrison of Canon Street, in Little Downham, Cambridgeshire, England.

James is noted as a labourer in 1854, but by the time of the 1881 census, he is noted as a Farmer of 11 acres. He remains a farmer until 1901.

James married Eliza Maltby of Louth, Lincolnshire, and the couple are known to have had at least two children - a daughter, and a son. It's not clear whether they had further children, as I've been unable to find James and Eliza after he appears as a witness at the marriage for his older sister Mary Tingey in 1846. His next appearance is the 1861 census for Little Downham.

Their daughter Jonor appears to have been born in Welney, Cambridgeshire (now in Norfolk), and so this may be where the family lived during the 1850s.

James died in January 1903, pre-deceasing Eliza by 12 years.
