Mary Dewey

Mary Dewey was the fifth of the six known children of William Dewey and his wife Ellen Markham of Witchford, Cambridgeshire, England.

She married John Whetstone of Witchford, Cambridgeshire and they appear on the 1851 census at Main Street with three children. The couple appear to have had seven children in total.

On the 1861 Witchford census, Mary and her husband John are shown as living with their father, William Dewey, an Agricultural Labourer. William's wife Ellen, (Mary's mother) had died in 1856.

John predeceased Mary in 1880, with her surviving him until 1883. Her final census, 1881, sees her living in nearby Wentworth with their married son James, and his young family.
